How Kenya's PAYE Tax Works (2026)
Kenya uses a Pay As You Earn (PAYE) system with progressive tax brackets. For the 2026 tax year, the rates are approximately:
- Up to KES 288,000/year: 10%
- KES 288,001 to 432,000: 25%
- KES 432,001 and above: 30%
In addition to PAYE, employees contribute 5% to NSSF (National Social Security Fund) and 2.75% to NHIF (National Hospital Insurance Fund), subject to statutory limits. These deductions are factored into your net pay.
